Pain in the upper body One of the earliest signs of a heart attack is experiencing discomfort or throbbing pain in the arms, neck, back, or jaw. Breathlessness and tightness in the chest If one suddenly experiences heavy breathing or breathlessness as if they have just run a marathon (when they have not), it might be a serious sign of a heart attack.
